The Future USS Kingsville Is A Littoral Combat Ship

Littoral combat ships (LCS) are high speed, agile, shallow draft, mission-focused surface combatants (with aluminum trimaran hull for the Independence variant) designed for operations in the littoral environment, yet fully capable of open ocean operations. As part of the surface fleet, littoral combat ships have the capability to counter and outpace evolving threats independently or within a network of surface combatants. Paired with advanced sonar and surface weapons, the littoral combat ships provide operational flexibility to execute surface warfare, mine warfare, and anti-submarine warfare.
